What Is an Indonesia Tourist Visa?
An Indonesia Tourist Visa allows foreigners to enter Indonesia with the aim of vacation or leisure and tourism.
Please note that an Indonesia Tourist Visa is not allowed to engage in any business activities in Indonesia. Therefore, this visa is not for business or commercial activities and employment.
However, if you plan to do so, you need to apply for a business visa to participate or attend business-related purposes or a working visa KITAS to generate any income in Indonesia.
Requirements to Obtain the Indonesia Tourist Visa
To apply for the Tourist Visa, you should meet some requirements as follows:
- Complete and sign Indonesia Visa Application Form that you can obtain the form on the Embassy/Consulate website or through their offices.
- Passport of Applicant with minimum validity 6 (six) months from the date of entry into Indonesia. Also, an applicant should have at least one blank page for the visa (amendment and endorsement pages cannot be used for the visa).
- A copy of applicant’s passport.
- A copy of a valid Residence Permit/Visa if you are not a citizen of the country you live in.
- Proof of sufficient financial means bank statement.
- A passport-size picture with dimensions of 3×4 cam or 4×6 cm, white background, and taken recently at least 3 months.
- Proof of payment of Indonesia visa fee.
- A copy of round trip flight itinerary/electronic airline tickets to and from Indonesia.
- Other related documents.
These requirements may vary or change in accordance with situations in Indonesia, like this pandemic.
How to Apply for the Indonesia Tourist Visa?
There are two ways to apply for the Tourist Visa, namely:
- On arrival at the airport in Indonesia, that is called Visa on Arrival. This is only for citizens of certain countries. Learn more about Visa On Arrival!
- At an Embassy or Consulate of Indonesia near you.
The Procedure to Obtain the Indonesia Tourist Visa
Here are some procedures which you should follow:
- Find the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate near you.
- Prepare all required documents.
- Pay for the Indonesia visa fee. Please note that the visa fee is non-refundable.
- Submit all required documents at the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate that can be submitted in person or by email.
- Wait for the Embassy or Consulate to process your Tourist Visa application.
- Once they have proceeded the visa application, you should go back to pick up your passport and documents. The Embassy or Consulate will let you know them by email if applied by email.
How Long Is the Indonesia Tourist Visa Valid for?
The Indonesia Tourist Visa allows foreigners to visit Indonesia for 30 days and a single- entry. The count begins upon arrival in Indonesia and ends on the day of departure.
In addition, this Tourist Visa can be extended for a maximum of another 30 days. Note that 7 (seven) working days prior to the expiration date, you should start extending your visa in the immigration office in person.
However, this one-time extension cannot be extended further. You will be charged an overstay fine if you spend more time in Indonesia than what is on your tourist visa.
